A journey from Rituals to Plants into the ancient practices of the Mayans and their rich Cosmology
Mayan Medicine is indeed a millenia-old traditional healing system which is not well known by the public and intentionally kept out of reflectors.
It is still practiced in remote areas of Guatemala, Mexico and Belize by a few elders or Tatas who struggle for transmitting such a great knowledge.
The unicity of this healing art is its profound Cosmology, unifying all aspects of the Universe and Humanity in a holistic perspective. As it turns out when practice and phylosophy are perfectly aligned with the natural elements, magic happens. The ancient Maya viewed their natural environment not just as a physical realm, but also as a sacred canvas inextricably linked to the cosmic sky. Mayan medicine, which is founded on a profound appreciation for nature and the divine, offers a glimpse into their cosmological beliefs, spiritual rituals, and worldview, as well as timeless wisdom that resonates with contemporary medicine. Ch’ulel, or vital energy, is a basic component of Mayan medicine, comparable to the meaning of Qi and Prana, that penetrates everything and balances human health.
Together, we will look into the Maya calendar, a sophisticated tool with interlocking cycles, each with its own importance and span. The human calendar known as the Tzolk’in will help us in defining our connection to elements and Nahuales, or animal guides, while the Haab’, or Solar Calendar, will teach us how to deal with plants and harness their therapeutic properties.
Official Certifications are issued by the Centre and accredited with IXIIM International Mayan Medicine Institute.
